Danna's Visit and the BYU vs East Carolina Game

Such a fun weekend! It all started this past summer, when the boys made plans to meet up at the BYU vs East Carolina game. That game happened this weekend in North Carolina. Josh drove up and the boys drove down. They had a great time together tailgating and watching the Cougars play. (They got a last minute surprise as well when they found out Mark's sister, Kris, was there with her family. Great surprise!) Well, Danna decided she didn't want to miss out on the fun, so she left town a little earlier than Josh, (Elliott, her oldest, had a couple of days off of school.) and came to hang out with me. Lucky me! Despite a busy weekend on my part, (Taylor had two orchestra events and I had a practice for our ward's Primary Program.) we made the very best of it. We spent Thursday doing a little shopping around town. We spent Friday at Maymont. And then we had a girls night on Saturday. We had dinner out, did a little shopping and then, after putting the little girls to bed, we made cookies and popcorn and watched Netflix. Oh, and we all got in lots of Scout time all weekend long. It was a great weekend! As always, I'm so grateful we live close enough to have weekends like these!

King of Tokyo

My sister introduced us to King of Tokyo over the summer, a really fun board game. We loved it so much, we bought our own copy and then played it non stop this past summer. Since school has started, it has sadly sat in the closet. The kids had some free time tonight before church activities, so they pulled it out tonight and played a few rounds. They were quickly reminded of how much fun it is. I am grateful for slower nights like tonight and for kids who love doing things together.

Dinner Out as a Family

Though it's a school night, we needed a night out, so we took one and went to Red Robin for dinner earlier tonight. It was a much needed break from life.

Spencer was working very hard on this school assignment tonight. When he finished, I just had to snap some pictures.

Taylor Dressed Up For the Sock Hop

Tonight's the first church dance of the school year and it's a Sock Hop. Taylor couldn't be more excited and she looked adorable all dressed up. I hope she has a blast. I should also say, I loved every single picture I took of her, so I included all of them.

Our 25 Miler Family Bike Ride

Today we helped Spencer finish his cycling merit badge by completing a 25 mile bike ride together as a family. It was much tougher than I thought it would be, but we all made it, even with finishing the day with smiles on our faces. We may have went directly from our ride to Five Guys for burgers and fries, which may have assisted those smiles a little.

The Lake with Friends

Today we spent the day at the lake with friends. It was a pretty perfect day. Summer is winding down here, but I wish it never had to end, especially on days like today.
